If you compare the two fabrics below you will see that they are VERY similar but not the same. This is because they are pictures of different sides of the same fabric. You will encounter these variations when combining techniques because not every technique penetrates through the fabric. We are not exactly dyeing fabric with these techniques rather we are like painters, creating unique images on the fabric.

The piece of canvas, shown below, was too thick for the dark square to penetrate to the other side.
